Kingman Powerhouse Visitor Center

The Powerhouse opened its doors in July 1907 as an electric generating plant. It supplied electricity to the surrounding mining operations and served as the electric plant for the area until it was eventually phased out by the Hoover Dam.  A local group known as the Powerhouse Gang refurbished the building, and in 1997, it opened as the Powerhouse Visitor Center. Today, it houses not only a state visitor center but also the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona Headquarters and Gift Shop, Old West Store, Carlos Elmer Photo Gallery, Route 66 Museum and a meeting and event room. Model trains circulate around the building and large photos showcase attractions in the area.

Browse through the Powerhouse Visitor Center on Rt 66, home to the Rt 66 Museum and the Rt 66 Association of Arizona.
